Game Design and Educational Gamification Workshop

The ACM SIGCHI Student Chapter organized its second event of the academic year, a workshop on Game Design and Educational Gamification. The event aimed to explore the intersection of games and education, focusing on how game-based learning can effectively engage learners while making the educational experience enjoyable.

Led by Dr. Sandeep Athavale, Chief Mentor at Edu Games Lab TCS, the workshop delved into various aspects of designing educational games that balance fun with learning outcomes. Around 44 participants from diverse design and technology backgrounds attended, bringing unique perspectives to the discussions. Attendees actively engaged in group activities, sharing creative ideas and applying key concepts in game design.

The workshop emphasized the importance of understanding target audiences, designing learner-centered games, and incorporating constructive feedback to enhance educational impact.

Dr. Athavale is the Chief Mentor at Edu Games Lab TCS and a recognized authority in the field of gamification. With years of experience in creating innovative educational games, he has inspired aspiring designers with his expertise.




During his session, Dr. Athavale discussed:

    Athavale also conducted a hands-on activity where attendees formed groups to conceptualize and design their own educational games. His interactive approach fostered collaboration and creative thinking, leaving participants with practical insights to further explore game design.

    The session concluded with a felicitation ceremony, where Dr. Wricha Mishra and Prof. Anand Belhe expressed gratitude to Dr. Athavale for his invaluable contribution to the workshop.
