Breaking the Myth

The ACM SIGCHI Student Chapter conducted its third event of the academic year, titled Breaking the Myth: A Panel Discussion. This engaging session aimed to dispel common misconceptions about user experience (UX) design.

Facilitated by Riya Gondkar, a 3rd-year UX design student, the discussion featured two industry experts, Saurabh Bajaj, a Product Designer at Upstox, and Akraprabha Dey, a Senior Design Consultant at Fractal Analytics. The panel offered students real-world perspectives, practical advice, and in-depth insights into navigating the complexities of UX design.

With active participation from over 35 students and notable faculty members, the event fostered a vibrant atmosphere for learning and collaboration.

Akraprabha Dey

As a Senior Design Consultant at Fractal Analytics, Akraprabha Dey combines UX with her passion for storytelling and animation. Her insights into leveraging storytelling to craft intuitive designs and integrating animation into user experiences captivated the audience. She highlighted how designers must adapt to technological advancements like GenAI and spatial computing to stay relevant.

Saurabh Bajaj

Saurabh Bajaj, Product Designer at Upstox, has a career rooted in the dynamic startup ecosystem. His expertise in SaaS product design and user-centric approaches offered students a unique glimpse into balancing innovation and agility in UX design. He shared valuable lessons from his journey, emphasizing the importance of adaptability and quick iterations in startup environments.
